Many studies conclude that having eggs in your breakfast helps you to lose weight. A recent egg-industry funded survey in Australia found that overweight people consume two eggs in the morning, and then ate less for lunch, and then again grabbed a large bite for evening snacks.

The study stated that it’s true, that eggs in breakfast could help you to lose weight, by making you fuller after breakfast and by eating a small portion for lunch. But they didn’t investigate what would be the effects of consuming two eggs every day over a time lead to.

A recent study compared eggs and toast with sugary cereal and orange juice. Two eggs with two slices of bread and 10g margarine contained 7 g fibre, 430 calories, 11 g protein, 5 g fat, 73 g carbohydrate.

Whereas, bran containing cereal with sugar milk and orange juice had 11 g fibre, 427 calories, 11 g protein, 5 g fat, 73 g carbohydrate.

This study concluded that the cereal-based breakfast contained double the carbs and only four more grams of fibre than the egg breakfast. Thus, the number of calories came from sugar.

While looking at other angles, proteins and fat in both the meals vary a lot. Both products provide the same amount of calories. Healthy bodies recommend high fibre, complex carbs at breakfast; these can be found in food like wholemeal bread, oats, and other cereals. Adding fibre, helps an individual to stay full until lunch and reduces the urge for snacks.

While looking technically, it’s not recommended to eat two eggs in the morning for overweight and obese people, as eggs contain more cholesterol than any other food product. Not only cholesterol but eating eggs frequently for breakfast increases the risk of heart diseases. A recent study in the Canadian Journal concluded that a single large egg yolk alone contains 275 milligrams of cholesterol. The daily maximum limit of consuming cholesterol is two hundred, and one egg alone exceeds the daily limit of cholesterol.

Coming back to the solid ground of question, Are eggs good for weight Loss?

For several years, the egg industry is trying to convince people to consume eggs for their breakfast to reduce weight, to increase the amount of protein in the body, and many more reasons and ways. But eggs are NOT healthy at all, and should not be consumed for diet. So, we can now say that eggs are not a good option when you are looking for weight loss.

The best alternative of replacing eggs is with plant-based products. You can include tofu in your diet or can make vegan omelettes. You can even make egg-free meringues.

Recommending a human being to consume an egg is similar to suggesting a person with asthma smoke. Thus, one must NOT include eggs in the diet and should consume more and more plant-based products and should substitute eggs with other vegan or plant-based products in their day-to-day life.
