The documentary released in 2018 on Netflix. The camera follows the travels of elite special forces trainer James Wilks across the world as he is on a quest to find out the truth “behind the world’s most dangerous myth:” that meat is absolutely necessary for humans to get their protein.
The documentary is produced by Academy Award-winning director James Cameron. It features around a dozen of plant-powered athletes and their diets. The Game Changers is co produced by celebrated athletes namely Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton, tennis star Serena Williams, action film star Jackie Chan, and former bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In the documentary Wilks mentions that many athletes are trying to switch to a plant-based diet due to the health benefits. He believes that athletes are in touch with their bodies in a way many ‘regular’ people aren’t sharing that many of them told them that they could feel the animal food was increasing their inflammation and slowing them down. Wilks adds, “It’s pretty cool to hear so many athletic men and women backing up the science with their own personal experiences.”
