Recently, the Skeptical Cardiologist made it to the headlines after announcing that a team of 14 international unbiased researchers concluded its fine to continue consuming red meat as well as processed meat at present levels.
The announcement was actually the opposite of what major healthcare bodies in the US have been suggesting us since years and tossed the nutritional society into dismay.
The new guideline, alongside 5 systematic reviews, was published in the ‘Annals of Internal Medicine’ journal on Monday.
A few nutrition experts have tried to restrain the claims of the new guideline in the publication.
Julia Belluz from Vox explained the science in proper way and incorporates a few voices that don’t comply with the publication.
Well, the science related to most nutritional suggestions isn’t strong enough and the health authorities claim sweeping dietary suggestions often which are not really justified.
A gradual progress is being made to roll back bans imposed on a few healthy food items such as eggs. However, the unjustified bans imposed on other nutritional foods such as coconut oil and full-fat yogurt still persist.
Coming to consumption of red meat, the analysis shows minor links with poor outputs. However, these links do not prove any sort of causality. Hence, if you wish to continue eating red meat on the probability that these links are reflective of the causation then go ahead.
