Supplement might reduce the heart attack risk as well as death from heart disease.
People that got supplements of Omega-3 fish oil in random trials had reduced risk of a heart attack as well as other heart disease than the ones who received placebo, as per a new meta-analysis.
The researchers discovered a link between daily Omega-3 supplement intake and lower risks of most heart disease events, including death due to coronary cardiovascular disease and heart attack. However, they didn’t see any advantage of the supplement for reducing heart strokes. Additionally, high dose of the supplements seemed to provide even increased risk reduction.
While observational researches have revealed a link between reduced risk of heart disease and fish consumption, results from this new meta-analysis have remained inconsistent. There was no clear evidence about benefit in two previews issued previous year.
Researchers conducted an upgraded meta-analysis which included 3 recently finished large-scale trials that increased sample size nearly by 64%. The findings showed that in contrast to those who used a placebo, people who consumed supplements of Omega-3 fish oil daily had reduced risk for most of the heart disease events except stroke. The link was evident especially at increased dose of the supplement.
