Pret is one of the largest restaurant chains in the UK. It has many branches across the country and is offering several croissant options. Recently the food chain has announced ‘The Very Berry Croissant’ for vegans across all its shops.
It is a vegan recipe that contains sweet berry compote. Vegans can enjoy The Very Berry Croissant across the UK from January 7. Pret has managed to list itself among the restaurants that are offering vegan friendly croissants in the country.
Each year Pret shops sell more than 20 million croissants through its stores and the new addition in the menu would increase the sales even more. Pret has taken this step after several customer requests about vegan recipes. It is using margarine and sunflower oil in The Very Berry Croissant to create it buttery and light textured pastry. The pastry is compiled with berry compote with a power of sugar.
Hannah Dolan, the global head of food innovation in Pret, said that this vegan recipe is the starting of vegan dishes in Pret. There will be more vegan friendly dishes in 2020 which will be helpful to encourage plant based innovations.
Apart from The Very Berry Croissant, Pret will also offer oat milk in all its shops from January 7. The price of this milk alternative will be low for the vegans. Demand for plant based food is increasing day by day due to the switching of people to veganism. There is a large reduction in the dairy and meat products across the world due to ethical as well as environmental reasons. Restaurants are now launching vegan food to retain the customers.
