The largest pork producer in the United Kingdom, Danish Brand Tulip Limited, has revealed its 1st vegan line. The line is called The Green Butcher. From this very moth the new line will be sold at retailer Co-op with the flagship product Vegan Slices with peppers. There are more products in development.
Tulip’s new product development and innovation controller, Sam Reader has said that they have worked really hard to develop the product in collaboration with Co-op. He further added that the slices demonstrates their capabilities as a modern food manufacturer to meet the evolving needs of the market.
Meat Company Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation which is one of the largest chicken producers in the U.S. with a worthwhile presence in Europe, had announced acquisition of Tulip in August which it valued at £290 million ($370.5 million).
Various meat corporations and companies have introduced vegan meat lines in the market that includes pork giants Hormel debuting with Unseasoned Plant-Based Ground Product under its Happy Little Plants line and Smithfield Foods which under its brand Pure Farmland sells vegan breakfast patties, dairy-free-cheese-stuffed burgers, meatballs, and more.
Vegan food and lifestyle is the latest trend that has hit the world and surely many brands are joining the bandwagon. Sam Reader added that the company knows that if they create a vegan product then they will definitely want to offer a healthier option than what is currently available in the market. So they are offering slices containing real vegetables. In this way they will have a big point of differentiation from other products in the sector.
