People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) urged MacDonald’s to launch McVegan Burger in the UK. The McVegan Burger is a huge favourite in Sweden and Finland. And now PETA thinks it is high time the McVegan Burger comes to the UK.
The burger first made an appearance in Finland in 2017. Since then vegans in the UK want taste of this delicious morsel. The patty of the burger is made of soy accompanied by, onions, ketchup and mustard.
In the UK the vegan options are limited. There are only McDonald’s fries, the Spicy Veggie One wrap, and apple pies on the menu. For the burger, there are no options available on the menu. And it’s a shame because it is available in the neighbouring countries. the UK needs a vegan burger option from McDonald’s.
Even Director of PETA, Dawn Carr said that a vegan burger is a must for McDonald’s. The brand itself means burgers, and adding the McVegan would deliver the full package.
There is a petition now to include vegan burger in McDonald’s menu. This decision comes after Greggs witnessed a 58 per cent increase in profits after adding a vegan sausage roll to its menu.
Gregg’s is the largest bakery chain in the country and its success come from the inclusive menu. If McDonald’s includes more plant-based food in its menu then it benefits all.
As of now, PETA is unsure about the number of petitioners. And there is no response from McDonald’s regarding the inclusion of vegan burger either. If the vegan burger was a success in Finland, we can hope it is so in the UK as well.
