Food Giant Nestle is introducing a new plant-based tune alternative in Switzerland. The new plant-based product from the company will be launched this month. Nestle has expressed its hopes that consumers eating food products at home during the Covid-19 pandemic will definitely try this new product.
It is not for the first time that the company has introduced a plant-based product into the food market. Nestle has already made available soy-based burgers, mince meat, sausages, and chicken nuggets for plant-based eaters.
Nestle is mainly known for its Maggi and bouillon cubes in the world of food. Since the demand for plant-based food products is booming on a large scale, Nestle is making efforts to provide plant-based food products to the target audience.
The company has introduced a new “Garden Gourmet” tuna made with pea protein. This will be available in glass jars in the Swiss supermarkets. And customers will be able to make use of this Garden Gourmet tuna in salads, sandwiches, and pizzas.
Moreover, the company has added that it will also make available ready-to-eat sandwiches in some of its stores. This plant-based tuna is developed within nine months by Nestle’s Swiss research facilities and it is the first plant-based seafood product in the market.
Nestle admitted last month that more people are consuming different food products at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. And it has boosted the demand for its different Garden Gourmet plant-based products in the beginning months of 2020. Last year, the sales of Nestle’s plant-based meat alternatives reached near 200 million Swiss francs.
